Hi Laura! I don’t know if you’ve went to get the Colgate toothpaste, but my Safeway (Annapolis) is giving me a hard time about them. I came with 6 coupons, and they only allowed me to use 5. And then when I tried to use my last one in a seperate transaction, they said I couldn’t use it for that particular type of toothpaste, even though I already 2 of them. Just wanted to know if you or anyone was having problems with Safeway. ALSO, here in Annapolis some of the Softsoap hand soaps are “reduced for quick sale,” down to $1.64. I used my $1/2 and got them for $1.14 each. Thanks for keeping us updated on all the deals!

Hi Ratasha,
Thanks for sharing about the reduced Softsoap at your store! Sorry to hear that you had a hard time at your store in Annapolis with the toothpaste deal. According to Safeway’s official coupon policy there are no stated limits on the number of like coupons you can use (unless there are restrictions listed on the actual coupon), although, I’ve found that Safeway stores and their management can vary on their enforcement and it’s up to their discretion on what coupons they accept.

In regards to the Colgate coupon, the $1/1 that I received in my Washington Post 1/1 SmartSource insert states “Save $1.00 on any Colgate toothpaste (4.0 oz or larger)”. So since it is good on “any” Colgate toothpaste and the sale item is for the 6.4 oz, it meets the requirement of the coupon. Perhaps your cashier (or manager) got confused because the pictures on the coupon show Colgate Total Advanced and Colgate Optic White, but the verbiage doesn’t specify that those varieties must be purchased. Hopefully others aren’t having the same issue! Since the coupon reads “any Colgate toothpaste” I’d point that out, and make the point that they can’t show a picture of every variety of Colgate toothpaste, so they just showed the ones they’d like to push (and that are typically more expensive).

Hope that helps!

Thanks Laura! I went and talked to the manager about it today, and everything was fine. I have the same $1/1 Colgate coupon, and when he scanned today it went through. I am realizing that I really have to read/know every stores’ coupon policy. =)
