Play Today DC Free Event & New Online Resource

Looking for fun things to do with your kids in DC?

There’s a new online resource called Play Today DC created by local mom, Elisa Kepner, which features different events, kids’ classes, and family-friendly activities here in the Washington DC metro area. The site is a free resource and has a calendar of events, plus the capability for parents to register for events directly on their site — that’s a nice option to have the registration on the site! Right now its in Beta version in Northern Virginia, currently serving Falls Church, Great Falls, McLean, Oakton, Reston and Vienna, but they’ll be expanding to serve other cities in the DC-area shortly.

Coming up on Saturday, February 4th, 2012 Play Today DC will have a free event “Find the Fun Fair” at the Westwood Country Club in Vienna, VA from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm.  This will be their launch party and will include fun activities for children and families like a moon bounce, face painting, snacks, music, plus giveaways and raffles.

Plus they have 2 Find the Fun Fair Sweepstakes:

Visit the Play Today DC Facebook fan page, become a fan and you can enter their online sweepstakes to win an iPod touch (valued at $199). You can also print the Play Today DC Facebook fan page, along with your name, email address and phone number on the page, bring it to the Find the Fun Fair on Feb. 4th to be entered to win an iPad in a raffle at the fair (value $499). For more details on their sweepstakes, click here.

Disclosure: I received a gift card in return for writing this post. However, I don’t just write posts about anything that comes my way in return for compensation , I’m actually pretty interested in this new online resource for families here in the DC area. The opinions shared in this post are my own. Feel free to check out my full disclosure policy here.

This list is not very comprehensive – for example I typed in “sports” in the Alexandria VA area and the only thing that came up was a tae kwon do place in falls church… i think i will stick with google.

Thanks for sharing Anonymous!
I think since it is in beta version they’ll be adding more soon. There are however some great blogs that have calendar of events to do in our area, just no sign-up option. I think it’s a great concept, but it may not be a “one-stop-shop” quite yet.

For Montgomery County, MD parents looking for a truly one stop activity search and compare experience – check out http://www.activityrocket.com. Launched in fall 2011, the first of its kind website includes more than 125 activity providers and over 8000 unique activities with more added daily. It’s like kayak/expedia for kids activities. The site is focused just on activities – so you will also find parent ratings and reviews; deals and coupons, planning, calendaring and sharing functions. The Rocket will be expanding into No VA and DC soon – but if you are a MOCO parent – this is a great FREE resource. Ilene Miller – co-founder, activityrocket.com
