Disney On Ice Let’s Celebrate This Weekend

Color Show Logo_D30
My family and I had the chance to attend Disney On Ice at the Patriot Center yesterday night and Disney did not disappoint. One of my blog readers won tickets and got the chance to attend with her children on opening night, and my family got to check out the show on Thursday evening. Disney On Ice is always a spectacular event, and my kids were excited for the chance to see all their favorite characters ice skating here in Northern VA!

We got the chance to see Mickey and Minnie plus many of our favorite characters take the ice and celebrate holidays from all around the globe. Kicking off with a celebration familiar to everyone, a birthday, or rather, a Very Merry Unbirthday, Party with Alice and the Mad Hatter. We then found ourselves trotting the globe and discovering Carnival in Brazil, Japan for the Sakura Cherry Blossoms, Chinese New Year with Mulan, Spring Break with Lilo & Stitch in Hawaii, Mardi Gras with Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen, Valentine’s Day with the Disney Princesses, and a Winter Wonderland finale with snowfall and santa at the end.

And with Halloween just a week away, we were able to enjoy a “spook-tacular” display of Disney’s favorite villains in a theatrical number featuring Jack Skeleton, Cruela Deville, Captain Hook the Evil Witch and others. (Note – I have to admit, this scene was a little scary for my 2 year old daughter, but my older son was just fine).

The choreographers have definitely put together a spectacular show that highlights all the favorite holidays around the world and pairs that with an amazing team of skaters and storytellers. Each time I’ve seen Disney On Ice, I’m amazed how they are able to create such memorable, distinct and mesmerizing productions, bringing a piece of Disney magic to the ice rink.
