A one-of-a-kind race will be taking place this fall in picturesque, historical Prince William County, Virginia. This unique half marathon is perfect for avid runners in Northern Virginia, DC, Maryland, and across the Mid-Atlantic region.

Top Ten Reasons You Should Run the Prince William Half Marathon

10. Running 13.1 miles is achievable.

My husband had never run an official 5K or 10K race before signing up for the Prince William Half Marathon, but had been running regularly for about two years. He said that 13.1 miles isn’t as long as you may think and that training and building up your endurance is key. I also had two other close friends who had never run a half marathon successfully complete the Prince William Half Marathon, so I know it is doable!

9. Historical sites.

Soak up the history as you run past historical landmarks and sites from Manassas National Battlefield including the New York Monuments, the Stone House, the Dogan House, and the Brawner Farm House.

8. Voted runner-up for Best Half Marathon & Best Course in the DC Area.

The Prince William Half Marathon was voted runner-up for “Best Half Marathon” in the Washington DC area AND runner-up for “Best Course” in the Best of Washington Running 2017 survey. Local runners love this half marathon.

7. Set a challenge.

Push yourself by setting a big challenge. Never thought you’d run a half marathon? Challenge yourself and build up toward this big not-so-scary goal. Add some excitement to your life!

6. Great course to run.

As you may suspect from its placing as one of the top race courses in our region, the course terrain is enjoyable to run. It includes gently rolling hills and the entire race course includes paved roads. Check out the fly-over of the course!

5. Perfect way to get in shape.

Training for and running in a half marathon is a great way to take your fitness to the next level! If you’ve been wanting to run and work-out more, signing up for the Prince William Half Marathon is a great way to push yourself toward a more healthy lifestyle.

4. All levels of runners.

I was impressed to see “newbie” runners and seasoned marathon runners alike in this race. There was definitely a fun vibe as many teams decided to dress up in coordinating costumes and there were also many “serious” runners. I loved seeing a wide variety of running levels, from beginners to pro-athletes, all coming together for this big race.

3. Finish line party.

After you cross the finish line, enjoy live music by local bands on the Jiffy Lube Live stage. Runners, friends, and family can enjoy music, food, beer, and lots of fun in the pavilion area while waiting for their racer to finish. Last year there was free face painting and activities for children. Some of the food vendors in 2016 included The Bone BBQ, Moe’s Southwestern Grill, Duck Donuts, and more.

2. Lots of support and encouragement.

My husband said one of the best parts of the race was the positivity and encouragement from fellow runners, cheering one another on during the race. If one runner was struggling, others were helping affirm and push him or her to keep going.

1. The most unique race in our area.

I don’t know of any other half marathons that incorporate 200+ year old monuments/landmarks AND top, modern concert venues into one single race course. This race really is a gem, and you get a cool “cannon” medal with spinning wheel, upon completion.

What are you waiting for? Sign up for the Prince William Half Marathon and enjoy a discount of $15 OFF by entering discount code “beltway15” upon registration.

Be sure to sign up soon as the registration price increases at the beginning of each month.

I’ll be cheering on my husband and friends who are running the Prince William Half Marathon this year. I can’t wait to cheer you on too (and perhaps I’ll be running in 2018?)!
