My Super Savings Saturday Shopping Trip

Today I headed over to Safeway to take advantage of some great deals and wanted to share how I spent less than $3.00 out-of-pocket on all of the items pictured below!

They key is waiting for good sales/promotions and combining with coupons (printable or inserts) and manufacturer eCoupons from ShortCuts.com and CellFire.com. In my experience you can use manufacturer’s coupons on products and still have the e-coupon savings appear on your receipt. I first found out this tip a few months ago from MoneyWise Moms and Holly’s Savings. Thanks Gina and Holly for helping me learn how to maximize my Safeway shopping trip savings!

Here’s what I bought, split into 2 different transactions:

TRANSACTION #1
(6) Hershey Chocolate Bar (1.45-1.55 oz.) on sale Buy 3 Get 3 Free (reg. price $0.89 each)
– (3) B1G1 Coupon (SS 1/10/10 Buy one 1.45-1.55 oz. Milk Choc. or Milk Choc. w/ Almonds, Get one 1.45-1.55 oz. Special Dark Choc. or Special Dark Choc. w/ Almonds Bar FREE)
= FREE for all 6
I repeated the above chocolate bar deal 2 more times because I happened to have 9 B1G1 coupons total. So I got 18 chocolate bars for free. The store has a TON of these single candy bars in each of the check-out aisles.

In hindsight, if I had done the fruit snacks in transaction #2 first (the 3 Betty Crocker fruit snacks) instead of the 4 Fruit by the Foot, I could have spent less out-of-pocket by paying only $0.20 for the first transaction, then using my $1.50 catalina toward the second transaction.
