This weekend the Junior League of Northern Virginia (JLNV) will be holding its annual Enchanted Forest event. I first read about this whimsical event when Java Mom blogged about it last year, and amidst the hustle and bustle of the pre-holiday season and a new baby, I remember thinking that this Northern VA event sounded like a real treat for the kids and that I might need to look into it next year (when I was actually getting some sleep and able to leave the house!).

Well, I’m happy to report that this year, the fun takes place Sat. Nov. 19th and Sun. Nov. 20, 2011, at the Westin Tysons Corner Hotel in Falls Church, VA. In case you’re not familiar, the Enchanted Forest is a winter-themed festival designed for the entire family, and includes activities such as The Enchanted Forest “One Enchanted Evening” Gala, Breakfast with Santa, Cocoa and Cupcakes with the Snow Fairy Princess, Kids in the Kitchen and Children’s Science Center interactive activities, gingerbread house workshops, a professional train display, musical and dance performers, arts and crafts, photos with Santa, a holiday shopping boutique, and the “forest” itself filled with themed merchandise-decorated holiday trees.

Want to know more about the organization running the event? The JLNV is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Proceeds from the event this weekend will go toward volunteer education and JLNV-supported community programs. With the donations they receive, they are able to continue helping children achieve their full potential as they work to remove barriers to academic success, promote a love of learning and foster self-esteem though their programs and community partnerships.
