Back in May I got to meet Firehouse Subs founder and former firefighter, Robin Sorensen at a “sub social” in Annandale, VA with a group of fellow bloggers. I had a great time getting to taste test about half of the menu items (my favorite was the classic Hook & Ladder) and find out more about Firehouse Subs.
In case you’re unfamiliar with their restaurant, they were founded in 1994 by former firefighting brothers, Chris and Robin Sorensen. Today they are a 505-unit fast-casual chain and the only restaurant concept using a steaming method to create hot subs. There are multiple Northern Virginia & Maryland locations and their subs are pretty tasty! They pride themselves in taking the best meats and cheeses, steaming simultaneously to ignite the flavors, then combined with fresh, crisp produce on a separately toasted sub roll.
The restaurant’s mission statement ensures hearty and flavorful food, heartfelt service and public safety support. Based on the founding family’s 200 years of firefighting heritage, restaurants display local memorabilia and images donated by area fire departments.
Plus I love that Firehouse Subs gives you a free medium sub on your birthday, when you show a valid ID! You know I love my food freebies!
