After a hot and humid summer, the DC metropolitan area is finally starting to cool down! With the arrival of the crisp, autumn air, the change of seasons has left me itching to tackle some new home design projects. If you need some design inspiration this fall, be sure to check out the Capital Home Show at the Dulles Expo Center on Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27, 2015.

- Headlining the show is DIY Network personality Jason Cameron, who is the host of Man Caves, Sledgehammer and Desperate Landscapes. Jason will share his expertise as a licensed contractor, revealing his top home improvement tips and tricks.
- Brent & Josh Beekman from the Cooking Channel’s “The Fabulous Beekman Boys” will speak on stage showing how to bring Farm to Table to your home, plus how to put a stylish stamp on seasonal living.
- Denise Sabia, interior designer and author of “The Painted Home” blog, will be sharing clever entertainment ideas for flea market finds.
- Mina Files of Synergy Design & Construction will be sharing her advice on how to avoid a remodeling nightmare.
- Local radio personalities Jen Richer (from the Tommy Show on 94.7 Fresh FM) and Chilli Amar (from 97.1 Wash FM) will also be making special appearances.
If you didn’t realize sheds could be chic, be prepared to be astonished by “Shedquarters,” three fully-furnished sheds turned into unique backyard getaways. You’ll find creative ideas for your outdoor living space, such as a shed with a wine tasting room, a writers retreat and a French country cottage. This exhibit features creations from the members of the Interior Redesign + Staging Association. Shedquarters is sure to give you some inspiration for updating your own shed and outdoor space!
There will be 300+ vendors in the exhibitor hall, showcasing the latest products and services in home improvement, design and décor. My husband’s outdoor lighting company Enlightened Lighting will be at booth #111, so if you come to the show be sure to stop by and say hi!
