Operation KIND Kids Program

I’m excited to share a fun, family event for Operation Kind Kids, coming up next Sat. May 31st in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside of DC. *Keep reading for a chance to win free museum admission on the day of this event!*

KIND Healthy Snacks and Sprout are teaming together for Operation Kind Kids – a program designed to inspire kindness through everyday thoughtful acts. To kick off this program, on Sat. May 31st, 2014 KIND and Sprout are hosting fun, family-friendly events across the US. Here in DC we have an event, so I hope you’ll join me and my family for the fun!

Date: Saturday, May 31st from 10am – 1pm
Location: National Children’s Museum, 151 Saint George Blvd, National Harbor, MD 20745.
Cost: Admittance to the event is free with cost of museum admission ($10 per person. Infants 12 months or younger are free).
Who should come: Parents, kids and caregivers will enjoy a variety of activities aimed at encouraging kindness at home and in the community! Activities are geared toward children ages 2-6, but all ages are welcome.

I’m excited to share that some of the fun activities will include:

  • Art station – Kids will have the chance to express what kindness means to them and contribute to a special collage wall.
  • A kind act a day calendar – Attendees get to take home a calendar to help track kind acts.
  • Flower wall - Kids will be invited to pick a flower from the flower wall to pass on to someone else, and help brighten another person’s day.
  • Photo booth – The whole family can strike a pose and capture
  • Delicious, healthy snacks – KIND Healthy Grains bars will be on hand for you to enjoy!

My son is very little but we try to pick up trash when we are out and I teach him that its not okay to put trash on the ground!

We talk a lot about how actions of others make him feel, and how to treat others.

I try to teach my kids to be kind to others with words and to try and help people when they need it.

when we go ‘creeking’ we bring a grocery bag so we can pick up trash to help clean up the community.
